Fan Dance & the Poetics of Performance with Mirabai
Please join Mirabai for a fun and engaging MEAI-sponsored
workshop at Hasani's Un-Hafla! Expanding on elements from
Setsuna's workshop,Mirabai will teach a series of fusion
Chinese silk fan dance combinations that can serve as a
choreography, or as inspiration for your own fan dance creation.
Additionally, drawing on a lifetime of study of dance, poetry,
and theater, she will share a number of performance gems that
apply to both formal and casual settings. Concepts she will
cover will be "breath", "vulnerability" and "gesture" in dance,
"stage psychology", audience engagement, and calming those
pre-performance nerves!! 30/adv or $35/after Aug 2nd.
**Though the Week 1 workshop is recommended as a precursor to

Emerald Sanctuary BellyDance Retreat
ESBD started as a BellyDance camp and a way to raise $$ to help benefit Local WA State Wetlands it  has also become a memorable and community building experience.
Emerald Sanctuary BellyDance Retreat is destined to fill up this
year! I am working on getting all the details together however I
wanted everyone to know the dates & location.

@ Camp Delaney in Sun Lakes State park near the Grand Coulee Dam
Ask anyone who has attended we all have Lots of fun, we get to
take a Variety of BellyDance classes from local and out of state
instructors, swim in Deep Lake, get to know each other, have fun
all night at the Hafla! Help build a community and a portion of
the proceeds go to Local organizations that are working to restore
/ enhance / protect local wetlands in WA State! As a ecology
major I can tell you we need our Wetlands! Just mentioning so
all whom wish to attend can mark their calendar! More info to

Oasis Dance Camp West
Vashon Island, Washington

Oasis Dance Camp features internationally acclaimed dance artist, Cassandra, artistic director of Jawaahir Dance Company, Minneapolis, and special guest artist Habiba of Philadelphia. Dancers of all levels will enjoy four days of dance classes and activities in a setting of tall fir trees and a beautiful vista of Puget Sound. Oasis is held at a rural camp on Vashon Island. Facilities are clean, modern and heated. Four to eight campers share rooms with modern bath facilities. Camp cooks provide energy-rich home-style meals along with evening snacks. Registrants will receive an information packet about three weeks before the start of camp. It will include a map, suggested packing list, and ferry schedule.
